Modify Columns

When using Crew Companion, you can Resize, Show or Hide columns, Reorder and even Sort the columns. Keep in mind that you may need to do this once for each area (All Trips, Open Trips, My Trips, etc.) to get it initially set up.

How to Show or Hide Columns

The Customize Current List dialog box is divided into two sections: Hide and Add columns and Sorting.

  • Items in the Available columns category are what you can choose to Show (add) to the list.
  • Items listed under Selected columns are what are currently displayed and you can Hide (remove) from the list.

To access the Customize Current List dialog box:

  • Click View, Customize Current List
  • Right mouse click a column heading

Show a Column

  • Use one of the methods listed above to access the Customize Current List dialog box, then click the desired option (Equipment, Per Diem, Duty Time, etc.) from the Available columns list and then click the Show button.
  • This will transfer that item to the Selected columns area.
  • Repeat this process for all items that you want to Show (add) to the display.
  • Click OK when done.

Hide a Column

  • Use one of the methods listed above to access the Customize Current List dialog box, then click the desired option (Details, ID, Date, etc.) from the Selected columns list and then click the Hide button.
  • This will transfer that item to the Available columns area.
  • Repeat this process for all items that you want to Hide (remove) from the display.
  • Click OK when done.

Reorder Columns

Once you have the columns added to the Selected columns area, you can choose to Move Up or Move Down each individual item. In the Customize Current List dialog box, click on the item in the Selected columns area and then click Up or Down until it is in the desired location. Then click OK.

Sort Columns

In addition to Showing and Hiding columns, you can also sort the columns in Ascending or Descending order to your liking. You can choose to sort each column individually or by multiple columns.

There are three methods by which you can change the sort order of a column:

  • Click View, Customize Current List
  • Right mouse click a column heading and choose Sort Low to High or Sort High to Low
  • Click on the column heading

To Sort Columns From The Customize Current List Dialog Box

  • Click View, Customize Current List.
  • In the lower section of the dialog box under Sort by One or More Columns, click the drop down arrow for Sort column 1 and select the desired choice.
  • Click the drop down arrow and choose from Ascending or Descending.
  • If you want to add a second column to sort by, click the Add Sort Column button and repeat the process above. You can add up to five columns to sort by!
  • If you add a column you no longer want sorted, click the Remove button.
  • Click OK when finished.

To Sort Columns With The Right Mouse Button

Click the right mouse on any column heading and choose from Sort Low to High or Sort High to Low. Using this method you can only sort by one column at a time.

To Sort Columns By The Column Heading

You can choose to sort by only one column or up to five columns by clicking on the column heading. When you click on a column heading and see the “arrow” appear this will indicate that you are sorting that column. If the “arrow” is pointing “down” this is considered an Ascending Sort. If the “arrow” is pointing “up” this is considered a Descending Sort.

To Sort By One Column

  • Click on the column heading.

To Sort By More Than One Column (Multi-Sort)

  • Click on the first column heading.
  • Then hold down the CTRL key on the keyboard and select the second column.
  • To continue adding columns, hold down the CTRL key on the keyboard.

Note: By default the columns will appear in Ascending order. To change this order to Descending, hold down the CTRL key on the keyboard and select the column heading again.

Resize Column

You can resize a column heading by putting your mouse pointer on the line that separates the columns. When your mouse turns into a double ended arrow, hold down the left mouse button and drag either left or right to change the size.
